As part of our back to school series we go to the home of the Syracuse University (SU) Orange. In the fall of 1983 I began attending SU as a recruited transfer student athlete. Cosmos' Pizza on Marshall Street (M Street) had this great toasted Honey Bun alamode (with vanilla ice cream) guaranteed to make you a SU fan. In a sport like lacrosse in which speed and quickness is everything, Cosmos' toasted honey bun and ice cream was killing me softly but helped me identify with my new community. I took my son to Syracuse last summer to show him my old stomping grounds including Cosmos. He had the toasted honey bun and ice cream and thereafter asked if we could move to Syracuse. I would suggest that the football coaches add this dish to the itinerary of the top recruits who visit the campus. I'm sure it would go a long way towards signing blue chip players, improving the program's wins and loss record, and national ranking. Go Orange!
